When Warp Founder Ayush Sharma started his first company, he was spending an overwhelming amount of time on simple business operations — and payroll was the biggest pain point. In order for Warp to be useful to founders, payroll was going to play a critical role.

Despite payroll being core to its business model, the Warp team had no experience building a payroll product – and they didn’t want to do it from scratch. After building payroll on a different embedded provider, the Warp team was underwhelmed by the quality of the API, service, and experience for their employers. They began their search for best-in-class infrastructure that would stand the test of time and future-proof their investment.

Warp partnered with Check to quickly build a complete, reliable, 50-state payroll solution. By leveraging Check’s customizable components and being supported by Check’s go-to-market team, Warp was able to launch quickly without sacrificing their emerging brand. Warp Payroll was built by 2 engineers and went live in just 14 days.

Warp created an entirely new payroll product that legacy providers can’t compete against. Check’s flexible API and extensive documentation gave Warp the tools they needed to innovate and establish a new category of payroll.

Warp’s partnership with Check has enabled them to build and run a successful payroll business to change the way startups think about business operations. They’re doing so with a small team of 2 employees – supported by Check’s robust support team.
