The Opportunity: Help customers simplify operations and save time 

Housecall Pro saw an opportunity to streamline their customers’ operations even more by adding payroll. Before Housecall Pro built payroll, Pros would use the platform for time-tracking, scheduling, dispatching, invoicing, and payment collection before going on to reconcile and manually enter payroll-related information elsewhere. It was a time-consuming and fairly complex process. Housecall Pro was inspired to bridge the gap to speed up Pros’ operations. 

Housecall Pro makes it easier for Pros to run a home services business by enabling them to work simpler and grow smarter. Expanding its platform to include a fully-embedded payroll solution seemed like the perfect next step.  If Pros could have access to a payroll solution in the same app where they track their time, they’d win back considerable resources that could be spent driving their businesses forward. Plus, Housecall Pro could build a payroll solution that was tailored to their needs thanks to their deep understanding of the industry and Pros’ day-to-day operations. It was a win-win solution with the power to enhance Housecall Pro’s relationships with their customers.

The Solution: Offer a complete payroll solution

The team knew building a payroll solution from the ground up was a notoriously time-consuming and costly project, so they decided to build with a payroll infrastructure partner instead. After careful research, they decided to partner with Check. 

By choosing Check, they’d be able to build payroll via a best-in-class API and quickly and reliably serve Pros with secure payroll processing. In addition, they could rely on Check’s credit and fraud prevention, with the added benefit of Check assuming all responsibility for any losses. Our team of dedicated payroll experts granted Housecall Pro peace of mind and allowed them to dedicate all of their energy to Pros.  

In addition to building on Check’s payroll API, the partnership enabled Housecall Pro to offer a suite of enticing employee benefits to their customers. In the home services industry, the business of attracting and retaining top talent can be difficult. Many businesses offer similar roles with comparable pay, which makes it challenging to differentiate value to potential employees. Now Pros can stand out in potential hires’ eyes with employment packages that include benefits such as health insurance and 401(k) plans.
