Hourly Switches to Check to Power Their Growing Payroll Business

Hourly is a platform built to make workers' comp and payroll simple. They've created a single, seamless experience for their customers to run their businesses and save time.
Payroll is a core pillar of their business, and originally Hourly worked with a different embedded payroll provider to build their product. After facing limitations around platform flexibility, performance, and partner support, they knew they needed a change. That’s when they turned to Check.
We’re thrilled to announce our new partnership with Hourly. In less than three months, Hourly fully migrated its payroll business to Check — moving over hundreds of live businesses and tens of millions of dollars in monthly payroll volume with zero disruption to customers.
“We built Check from the ground up to meet the real demands of embedded payroll,” said Andrew Brown, Founder and CEO of Check. “That means being flexible, reliable, and deeply partner-focused — not just delivering APIs, but showing up every day like we’re on your team. Hourly’s success is a great example of what’s possible with the right foundation.”
Since the transition, Hourly has been able to deliver a more integrated and reliable payroll experience to its customers, with the added flexibility to tailor the product to their customers’ needs, not a solution adopted from a legacy player. Now, they will be able to offer seamless, easy-to-use payroll in all 50 states without needing complex workarounds.
At Check, we’ve built our platform specifically for embedded use cases — meaning partners like Hourly get not just APIs, but a foundation they can trust to scale their business. From onboarding and migration to ongoing support, we operate like an extension of our partners’ teams. We're committed to tackling the most complex use cases to ensure our partners' success. With a trusted embedded partner, Hourly can focus on their customers and growing their business instead of worrying about compliance issues and inflexible infrastructure.
We’re proud to work with Hourly to serve businesses that power the real economy.
